DUBURS Jekabs (D-58)

Latvian actor, singer (tenor), director, teacher. In 1887 he began stage activity, from 1890 he worked as a director. In 1903-1916 he headed the Riga Latvian Theater (1903-1905), the New Riga Theater (1908-1909), the Latvian Theater in Moscow (1915-1916). In 1909 he founded drama courses – the first Latvian professional theater school (Riga). He was a theater teacher, author of plays and theater-critical articles. He performed at the opera house and in concerts as a singer and reader.
