Kazakh and Soviet folk singer-akyn, poet, improviser of his own texts accompanied by dombra. He studied the art of improvisation with the famous akyn Suyumbai. He performed songs, mainly everyday and accusatory. He repeatedly won aitys (singing dialogues-competitions) of prominent akyns of the XIX – early XX centuries. During the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), he became known throughout the country for patriotic works, among which the song "Leningraders, my children!" dedicated to the defenders of besieged Leningrad stood out. Winner of the Stalin Prize (1941). In 1938-1997, a city in the south of Kazakhstan was named after Dzhambul (now Taraz, the region is still called Dzhambul). There is a monument to him in the city. 70 kilometers from Alma-Ata there is a village called the Museum of Dzhambul, where, after the death of Akyn, a Literary Memorial Museum named after him was opened, located in the house where Dzhambul lived his last years. The mausoleum of Dzhambul is also located there. The name of Dzhambul was given to the Kazakh State Philharmonic.
