Moldovan Soviet singer (soprano), performer of Moldovan folk songs. In 1946 she graduated from the Chisinau Conservatory in singing class with L. Babich. In 1945-1951 she sang in the Chisinau Opera Studio, made her stage debut in the role of Cio-Cio-san from the opera "Madame Butterfly" by J. Puccini, was a soloist of the Moldovan radio. However, the love of folk music forced T. Cheban to leave the opera stage. Back in 1947, at the first World Festival of Youth and Students in Prague, she won the title of laureate with songs that became the hallmark of the Moldavian SSR: "Doina", "Marioara", "Liana". The singer's repertoire included over 400 songs of the peoples of the USSR, as well as works by Moldovan composers.
